Matching spec to what actually happens on it
- Dense rubber flooring under free-weight and lifting platform areas to absorb impact
- Commercial vinyl or a studio-specific finish for classes, yoga and functional training spaces
- Suitable slip-rated safety vinyl in changing rooms and shower areas
- Robust matting at entrances given the volume of trainers and outdoor footwear passing through
Working around a class timetable
Gyms and studios rarely close entirely for a refit, so we usually agree a shutdown window with management, sometimes overnight, sometimes a single closed day, and fit around any classes or bookings that can't be moved. Larger gyms with distinct zones let us section off one area while the rest keeps operating.
Where a thinner spec fails quickly
Standard commercial vinyl under a free-weights rack will crack or dent within weeks of dropped weights, and studio flooring without enough cushioning underfoot will show wear from repeated foot-strike far sooner than a proper sports-grade product. This is one sector where the cheaper option rarely lasts.
Fife's fitness sector
We've quoted for independent gyms and studios in Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, often units converted from retail or industrial space where the existing concrete slab needs checking and levelling before rubber or vinyl flooring can be laid.
Access and scheduling
- Weight racks, mirrors and equipment moved and reinstated as part of the job
- Overnight or single closed-day windows agreed around class bookings
- Zoned fitting where a gym has distinct free-weights, studio and changing areas
