What tends to get specified
- Commercial-grade vinyl or carpet tile in classrooms, chosen for durability under desks, chairs and daily foot traffic
- Suitable slip-rated safety vinyl in nursery bathrooms, messy-play areas and food-prep spaces
- Robust matting at entrances given the volume of children and outdoor footwear
- Acoustic underlay considered in some rooms where noise transfer between floors is a concern
The holiday-window constraint
Nearly all our school and nursery work happens in the October, Christmas, Easter or summer break, when classrooms are empty and floors are fully cured before pupils return. Booking well ahead of a specific holiday matters, since demand for that window tends to cluster across several schools at once.
Where budget flooring struggles in a classroom
A cheaper carpet tile or thin vinyl will show wear and staining within a term or two under constant classroom traffic, chair legs and spills, meaning a repeat job sooner than a school would want. In nursery settings particularly, an underspecified safety vinyl in a wet area isn't something we'd recommend cutting back on.
