Saxony Carpet — Deep Pile, Where It Makes Sense

Saxony is a cut pile long enough to feel plush and to show footprints. In a bedroom that is the whole appeal. In a hallway it becomes a maintenance job you did not ask for.

FEEL
Deep, soft, visibly luxurious
SHOWS
Footprints, vacuum tracks and shading — normal, not a fault
BEST FOR
Bedrooms, guest rooms, formal lounges
AVOID
Hallways, stairs, home offices with a chair

Shading and pile reversal — what to expect

All deep cut piles show shading where the pile lies differently. On some carpets that develops into permanent pile reversal, or 'watermarking' — irregular light and dark patches. It is a characteristic of the construction, not a manufacturing defect, and no retailer can promise it will not happen.

If that would bother you, we will steer you to a twist pile instead. Better to know before the carpet is down.

Getting the most from a saxony

  • Pair with a 10–11mm PU underlay for the full depth of feel
  • Vacuum with a suction head rather than an aggressive beater bar
  • Keep it out of routes from the back door
  • Choose mid tones — very dark saxonies show every fleck of lint
