Cushioned vinyl vs safety vinyl
Cushioned vinyl is soft, warm and quiet — the right choice for a family bathroom. Safety vinyl has aggregate through the wear layer for grip when wet; it is harder underfoot and harder to clean, and it is the right choice where someone is at genuine risk of a slip.
We only recommend safety vinyl where it is needed. In a normal bathroom it makes the floor look and feel institutional for no real benefit.
Detailing that makes it last
- Ply overlay on timber floors so board joints do not telegraph through
- Coved and capped edges up the wall in wet rooms
- Silicone seal at the bath, shower tray and WC pan
- Welded seams — never a taped or butted joint in a wet area
